Dr. Donella Pitzl and Dr. Clyde Rivers |
In late October of 2016, Dr. Clyde Rivers, Golden Rule Dialogue Expert and Golden Rule World Peace Ambassador, together with Dr. Donella Pitzl also a Golden Rule World Peace Ambassador and Global Liaison for iChange Nations™, had the opportunity to meet with the law enforcement agency leaders and members of the community working with the assimilation of the many refuges settling in Amarillo and its surrounding areas.
The evidence of the challenges for the leaders and community liaisons of this city was apparent during the meetings. The community workers had open and responsive hearts for their role in acclimating new cultures into the city of Amarillo. The law enforcement leaders recognized the challenges, but had a positive attitude toward the efforts being made.
At the conclusion of the meetings, Dr. Rivers, expert in Golden Rule Dialogue (Treat others the way you want to be treated), was encouraged to continue to work and build with this community. He and his team took action to move forward with local Golden Rule World Peace Ambassadors to form a Golden Rule Community Action Committee and to begin to create initiatives to help the community.
Understanding the need for Golden Rule Dialogue between all the different cultures, at this time, seems to be in the forefront; recognizing there is a need to avoid any future conflict in their diversity and create pathways of communication. Getting to know and understand the different cultures is paramount to interactive communications and moving forward in the assimilation process both for the refugees and for the community of Amarillo, Texas.
Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers stated, “It was such an honor meeting so many great people from the city of Amarillo. Our newly appointed Golden Rule World Peace Ambassadors are of such a high caliber of individuals that I have no doubt they will be instrumental in assisting the leaders of this city to move toward good dialogue and positive action plans. We hope to return and do training in building Golden Rule Community Action Liaisons that can bridge the gap in peaceful cross-cultural communication. This will be a model for the world.”
